I’m Gianluca Cioni, a software engineer based in Rome. I enjoy the work between understanding what people need and making the technology deliver it.
Customer experience came first.
Before software engineering, I worked in hospitality and real estate. Those environments taught me to listen carefully, make sense of incomplete information, and take responsibility for the experience someone actually has.
Today, I bring that experience into customer conversations, technical design, and hands-on delivery. I can discuss a requirement with a business stakeholder, work through the system implications, and implement the changes with the team.
Start with the actual need.
A requested feature is a starting point. I ask what someone is trying to achieve and where their current process breaks down.
Make the trade-offs clear.
A useful technical design helps people decide and engineers build. Scope, assumptions, dependencies, and constraints should be understandable.
Keep ownership concrete.
Be clear about what I’m responsible for. Close the loop with stakeholders and follow through on the work I take on.
Check what actually works.
Use tests, user feedback, and production behaviour to judge the result. AI-generated output needs the same scrutiny as any other implementation.
